Since religion is a business, no one wants to share the profits and so they whine about "counterfeits"

irrefutable proof of the great apostasy that corrupted the catholic church
by TTWSYF inwhen the emperor constantine legalized christianity in the roman empire around 311ad he allowed or introduced a flood of half converted pagans and allowed the corruption that sullied the true faith and ruined christianity until a time when it could be restored to the true and pure faith that it was intended to become.
many people here know that to be a fact.
it's a common sense theory, right?.

She expresses well, how you might feel and think after religion goes away from your life. I have similar thoughts about death.
It's also surprising how children connect events like thunderstorms as being God bringing judgement on them. I thought the same way. I also read Mark Twain's book about his life and every time a thunderstorm happened, he would pray and beg to God that he would from then on be a good boy. Funny how religion does that.

New convention video
by Olig inso i've just seen a snippet of a new convention release, and it's obviously a reenactment (bloody poor one - look at the state of the disposable beards lol!
) of bible times.. the chap speaking is heard saying if your family members turn away and serve false gods, you should kill them!.

I think it would be interesting if confronted by a family member or "friend" over this, to pick up a stone and hand it to them and say "here's a rock, why don't you stone me with it?" Just trying to show the reality of what they have been encouraged to do.

Convention 2019: Children told don't form emotional attachment to pets!
by Nathan R. Koppe ini have just heard from a visitor to the jehovah's witnesses convention for 2019, that they have been told; 'not to form an emotional attachment to their pets, as animals don't have feelings anyway'.. well, that should break a few children hearts!👨👩👧👦 🥴 😭 💔.

If I didn't have pets when I was young, I wouldn't have felt loved by anyone. When I was a teenager and Armageddon coming to destroy to me, I contemplated suicide. The thought of my pets missing me kept me back.
Children and adults need love and if it isn't available from family or friends, a pet can give it.

Toesup We went to a church, for a high school graduation. I took a few more paper towels than I would have been able to take at the KH. lol
Do you know how long it took for me to even use two paper towels in a restroom? -

Shift in beliefs?
by blankspace ini was wondering whether anyone observed this point in the previous week's wt study, in paragraph 17: "jehovah’s spirit moves “the faithful steward” to keep giving his servants their food supply.".
i see this as a subtle move away from earlier claims to be channel for spiritual food.
the gb earlier said that they weren't inspired or infallible.

I remember the articles about how Holy Spirit is used to pick the elders. How the GB is chosen and inspired by Holy Spirit. How they made changes with the Holy Spirit.
All this in effect, made them infallible. Because when you have God using the Holy Spirit to "illuminate" the scriptures to the GB to make these changes, you couldn't be making mistakes or be wrong. Hence their use of "new light" as an explanation and all of the mumbo jumbo that went into using the illustration of how when the sun comes up, gradually you will see more detail and so the understanding becomes much clearer etc. Then you had the "tacking" of the ship explanation. All of this piling on explaining their flip flopping, means that not everyone was buying it so they had come up with something else. It also put into the followers minds, that nothing is clear cut with the workings of Holy Spirit and so they should leave it to the GB.
Then the article came out about them not being infallible and that they were "spirit directed" instead of Holy spirit inspiring them. Which to me means the GB is not going to accept responsibility for past "mistakes" or present ones. They can wash their hands of it all. And the regular JW's love that the leaders are being "so humble" and are just like them.

My mother took all four of us girls to Pasadena from the Bay Area in an Impala. We stayed at a house. The people were really nice but I don't remember the details of their house so much.
I do remember that it was so stinking hot, my older sister got a bloody nose that wouldn't stop and so we left early one day from the convention. She had her face over a cone of newspaper.
What did we learn at the convention? Who knows.

Oh how this religion has changed! Would this have been permitted 20 years ago??
by stuckinarut2 inhttps://m.facebook.com/100002613343180/posts/2271710659592690?sfns=mo.
would the old-timers even recognise this religion anymore?.
this is from one of the international conventions held this year.

Well the US had all of those "happy" dances going on a while back. How is this any different than Christendom "blessing" pagan objects so they are "holy?" More like Holy Crap!

Crazy ass excuses
by Crazyguy2 inso it was brought up lately that my lack of faith is partially do to stories in the bible like the one in samuel where god kills david’s first born son.
the excuse i heard today wasn’t that god killed david’s son no he just didn’t bless him so then he died.
wtf!!!

David killed a lot of people by disobeying God.
- Counted the Israelites - Did David die or get punished? No, 70,000 israelites died.
- Had sex with a married woman which is punishable by death for both - Did David die or Bathsheba? No. The child that didn't have a choice got killed.
- Killed Bathsheba's husband - Didn't die.
And let's not forget that God "rewarded" the two of them with Solomon who also got some freebies in life with all of his wives, chariots etc.
God is good to his "friends" but if you aren't, you can get instant death like the poor guy who touched the ark because it was tilting.
I can think of numerous excuses the WT has provided for God, as to why he was right in doing these things.
By the way, if you read the choices David had for punishment when he counted the nation, the first was having enemies come and fight them, the second was a famine. Both would have impacted David and his finances more than the plague he chose. And it doesn't appear that David thought he could possibly die. It's all good....

Yeah that's critical thinking for you.
Elders tell WT about the abuse. They write it down. The gang knows about it.
